Décembre 2006. Alors que Herman Düne sort l'album Giant sur une major et s'apprête à jouer dans de grandes salles, André quitte le groupe. Il s'installe à Berlin où il enregistre, tranquillement, sans pression, des disques sous le nom de Stanley Brinks.
Une façon de faire qui était déjà la sienne quand il menait parallèlement à son engagement dans le groupe, une activité musicale en solo sous son propre nom, sous les initiales AHD ou encore sous un tas de pseudonymes (Ben Dope, Ben Haschish, Klaus Bong, John Trawling, John Andreas, Lord Stanislas...).
Stanley/André est plutôt rétif à la technologie, au web, au business. Il produit environ 4 albums par an en totale autarcie, sur son propre label, Radical Baboon. Cela n'empêche pas une certaine reconnaissance internationale, déjà assez ancienne puisque l'artiste a souvent tourné en Europe, au Royaume-Uni, aux Etats-Unis...
Il perpétue ainsi la concrétisation de son envie de vivre la musique à une échelle humaine : des enregistrements demandant une logistique simple, des concerts dans des petites salles, voire même des appartements privés. Aventure, bohème et voyages.
Malgré cette façon de faire aux antipodes des règles tacites de l'époque, André rencontre depuis longtemps une certaine reconnaissance, un certain succès. Dank U, son premier album sous le patronyme Stanley Brinks a ainsi été classé par les Inrocks dans leur liste des 50 meilleurs albums de l'année 2008. Plus récemment, Stanley Brinks & the Wave Pictures a lui aussi suscité un grand enthousiasme médiatique. Ce sont ses seuls albums officiellement distribués. Tous les autres sont vendus ici même, ou lors des nombreux concerts que livre l'artiste.
Depuis début 2011 Stanley Brinks est accompagné par les Kaniks, groupe Norvégien au line-up inédit: Contrebasse, violon, mandoline banjo et trombone. (Cfr les albums Jamaica Inn, Aligator Twilight, Hafna Xita)
